Working across painting, sculpture, ceramics, installation, and works on paper, artist Tony Brown repurposes old materials to give them new meanings. Brown deconstructs, reorganizes, strips, paints, and reshapes his materials to create objects that communicate form, color, and texture rather than their original functional purposes as tables, newsstands, windows, advertisements, shelves, or chairs. His artistic motivations often stem from a desire to make work from aesthetically pleasing accidents.
