We could not help but share this wonderful Artsy editorial A Brief History of Polaroids in Art, from Ansel Adams to Andy Warhol (and Beyond), written by Scott Indrisek.
Incredibly insightful and poignant, we immediately thought of two artists that we work with closely, John Argetsinger and Maarten De Boer; both use Polaroids in their work, yet with very different visual results. While Argetsinger records his subjects through the unpredictable results of the medium, De Boer works with Polaroids as both subject and medium producing works that can be likened to layered color field paintings. Either way, one is immediately drawn to both of their works for the ethereal qualities.
